Dust collector in locomotives

dust collector in locomotives
In this paper we have focused on dust collection in train with the help of wind energy. Dust is one of the sources of land pollution which affect the environment majorly. By throwing the dust outside often will cause the land unfertile and unfit for use. To overcome this problem we have introduced a solution in this paper.

LAND POLLUTION

  • The contamination of soil by human and natural activities which may cause harmful effects.
  • Wastes which affect the soil characteristics and productivity of soils when they are dumped on the soil.

WIND ENERGY

  • Wind energy or wind power describes the process by which the wind is used to generate mechanical power
  • Renewable energy technologies make use of resources available locally

CONSTRUCTION

  • CASING
    • covers both pulleys
    • openable and closable at the end
    • good protection from external environment
  • PULLEY
    • attached near both end of casing
    • shaft mounted in pulley hole
    • carries belt
  • BELT DRIVE
    • placed in pulley groove path
    • leads dust to collector
  • DUST COLLECTOR
    • placed below the casing
    • openable and closable mini door placed outside

WORKING

  • high velocity of air circulate around , outside of the train .
  • speed is sufficient to drive the blades of the fan
  • power is transmitted to one of the pulley

OVERVIEW OF LAND POLLUTION

INCREASE IN WASTES

ADVANTAGE

  • Decrease in land pollution.
  • Dust collection is very easy
  • Cheapest way to collect waste.
  • Protection to passenger.
  • Collected dust may be reused.
  • Collected degradable dust used as a fertilizer for agriculture by composting.

CONCLUSION

  • If, this method is introduced in INDIAN RAILWAYS the land pollution caused by plastics, papers, bottles.etc. in train will be decreased day by day.
